Colombia halts coal ops at Santa Marta terminal

Colombia's environmental licensing authority (ANLA) has ordered the suspension of operations at private operator Carbosan's coal terminal in the port city of Santa Marta.
The suspension, effective immediately, is due to non-compliance of the environmental management plan in place at the terminal.
The loading of coal in unapproved vehicles, faulty loading systems, and a failure to control coal dusts were among Carbosan's violations, ANLA said in a release.
The operator's infrastructure includes a storage capacity of 97,000t at its Ancon yard and a combined capacity of 120,000t at yards No. 4 and 5.
Carbosan is controlled by the Colombian-subsidiary of Dutch port operator LBH Group.
Latin America's largest coal producer, Colombia's coal output fell 3.5% to 85.5Mt in 2015.
