Colombia to tender US$230mn highway projects in May

Colombian highway authority Invías plans to launch next month three tenders involving 900bn pesos (US$234mn) for roadworks in Risaralda department.

They are for the second stretch of the La Romelia-El Pollo highway, the second stretch of the Cerritos-La Virgina highway, and the integral improvement of the Ansermanuevo-Cartago corridor, which includes the Cartago-Alcalá stretch and the Suroccidental de Cartago road.

The works are part of a 1.2tn-peso plan that covers 800km of roads in the department. They must be carried out between 2022 and 2025, Invías’ technical and structuring director Guillermo Toro said during an online presentation.

Works are underway in seven corridors in Riseralda and the north of Valle del Cauca, including the rehabilitation of the Pereira-Cerritos and Cerritos-La Victoria corridor, and extension and improvement of Vía Panorama, among others.

The plan also includes works on the Santana-Saragoza-Airport stretch.

Invías has completed the first phase of the rehabilitation of Vía Panorama and started the second phase with the rehabilitation of over 130km.

It has already awarded the Pereira-La Victoria comprehensive road management contract, which includes building several pedestrian bridges and improvements to road crossings, among others.
