Details surface of planned Peru acreage offer

Peru government officials have unveiled new information for this year’s planned call to explore for hydrocarbons in the central Amazon region of Ucayali.

At a citizen participation meeting for block 201, hydrocarbons licensing authority Perupetro revealed that the minimum work program’s estimated investment reaches almost US$90mn, and that the area contains eight prospects and six leads.

The license contract would include a seven year exploration phase, which could be extended to 10 years, and in the case of a commercial find, up to a 30-year phase for oil (exploration and production) and up to 40 years for gas (exploration and production).

Exploration would be divided into an initial 12-month period to carry out geological studies, and three subsequent 24-month periods for seismic and drilling.

Block 201 covers 430,897ha and spans the provinces of Coronel Portillo and Atalaya.

Available information includes 1,794km of 2D seismic, 150km2 of 3D seismic, 1,184km of gravimetry data and 2,565km of magnetometry data.

Two non-commercial exploration wells – Shahuinto 1X and La Colpa – have been drilled in the area and two exploration wells have discovered hydrocarbons: Sheshea 1X and la Colpa 2XD.
