Dominican Rep set to grant solar concessions

The Dominican Republic’s national energy commission CNE has recommended that the executive branch grant a 25-year definitive concession for a 50MWn solar project.

WCGF Solar II is behind the Washington Capital Solar Park II which is planned for the municipality of San Antonio de Guerra in Santo Domingo province.

The developer secured the provisional concession in February 2021 and photovoltaic resource studies were carried out by Electrotex del Caribe.

For its part, power regulator SIE recommended that CNE grant a 25-year definitive concession to EFD Ecoener Fotovoltaica Dominicana for a 50MWn solar project.

EFD’s Cumayasa I park would be built in the municipality of Villa Hermosa, La Romana province.

The company also holds a provisional concession for the 30MWn Cumayasa II project.

The projects would benefit from fiscal incentives for renewable energies.
