Dominican Rep solar concession to change hands

The Dominican Republic’s power regulator SIE has greenlighted the transfer of ownership of Electronic JRC, which holds the Monte Plata solar concession.

Last year, the company filed a request for its shareholders General Energy Solutions Canada and United Renewable Energy to sell their stakes to Monte Plata Solar and CCED Ansa Renewable Energies.

The transaction would not negatively impact competition in the wholesale power market, according to the watchdog.

The regulator did condition the sale to an authorization from the national energy commission (CNE) to extend the construction timetable for the phase two project to double capacity of the operational 30MW Monte Plata park.

In a related note, CNE authorized Total Eren to assume control of local company Natural World Energy (NWE), following SIE approval.

NWE holds a definitive concession for a 100MWn (120MWp) solar project in Villarpando, Azua province.

Also from the Caribbean country, grid coordinator OC released its final long-term operating report for 2022-25, available here. The preliminary outlook was disclosed in November.
