Americas represent almost half of Vestas backlog

The Americas represented 45% of wind power group Vestas' 8,331MW order backlog at end-June.

Europe and Africa accounted for 47% and Asia Pacific 8%, according to the company's latest earnings report.

In the second quarter, Vestas delivered 103MW to Chile, 48MW to Uruguay and 2MW to Brazil. The company highlighted a 53MW order for a Guatemala wind farm.

Second quarter revenue for the Americas reached 210mn euros (US$279mn) compared to 155mn euros in the year-ago quarter. Companywide revenue totaled 2.41bn euros in Q2.

At end-June, wind turbine projects with a total output of 679MW were under completion in the Americas, 1,150MW in Europe and Africa and 223MW in Asia Pacific.
