Bolivia inks wind expansion deal

Bolivian state power company Ende subsidiary Corani inked a contract with Spanish firm TSK to build a 24MW wind farm in Qollpana, Cochabamba department.

An initial three towers are due to arrive in August, the hydrocarbons and energy ministry said in a statement. The US$64.5mn project includes transmission infrastructure and civil works.

In January, Bolivia recorded the first grid injection of wind generated power.

A 3MW first phase at Qollpana came online in December 2013 and a total 50MW are envisioned at the site.

Wind accounted for 0.08% of the country's gross generation last month.
