Paraguayan lawmakers advanced a bill to create an energy, mines and hydrocarbons ministry.
In a statement, the lower house said the energy, mines and hydrocarbons committee approved the initiative. Currently, mines and energy is a department within the public works and communications ministry.
The creation of the new entity would not cost the state anything as the department already has its own funds and personnel, according to committee president Pedro Britos.
