Peruvian hydroelectric developer secures rights of way

Peruvian authorities granted rights of way to the developer of a hydroelectric plant in south central Lima region.

Sindicato Energético (Sinersa) is behind the 19.2MW Chancay project, which is due online by end-2015. The authorization is for the aqueducts and hydroelectric works, according to an energy and mines ministry resolution.

Sinersa secured the definitive concession for Chancay last year after winning a contract in 2010 in the auction to supply 500MW from renewables for 20 years.

The company also holds a definitive concession for the 51MW Olmos 1 hydro project and operates Curumuy (12.5MW), Poechos 1 (15.4MW) and Poechos 2 (10MW) hydros.
