Eletrobras and Shell signed this Thursday (15th), in Rio de Janeiro, a technical cooperation agreement for the exchange of information for a possible co-investment in the development and operation of offshore wind energy projects in Brazil. The objective is to identify areas for a possible partnership in the development and implementation of projects.
Companies note that around the world, offshore wind energy is proving to be a booming energy source for renewable energy generation, driven by energy policy support in response to environmental concerns and by technological advances.
“The generation of clean and renewable energy is part of Eletrobras' DNA, which, now, with its expanded investment capacity, seeks to promote the diversification of its generation matrix. The company, therefore, constantly evaluates generation opportunities and gets to know new sources and technologies, keeping the know-how up to date to absorb new business opportunities in a competitive way”, says the president of Eletrobras, Wilson Ferreira Junior .
The Director of Generation at Eletrobras, Pedro Jatobá, reinforces that the company seeks to identify generation potentials for the development of studies that allow the composition of a portfolio of studies and projects for the future development of business in energy generation. “Considering that the eventual development of a project demands previous studies on the viability of potential areas for its implementation, the companies Eletrobras and Shell are interested in jointly carrying out the necessary studies”, explains the director.
