Bnamericas
The Goias state government has submitted to the Mines and Energy Ministry a proposal to help local state-run utility Companhia Energetica de Goias (Celg) pay its debts, local daily O Estado de San Paulo reported. Goias has asked for a three-year grace period and another 15 years to pay Celg's estimated debts of 950mn reais (US$271mn). "We've managed to achieve operating balance, now we need to seek financial balance," Goias Governor Marconi Perillo said, O Estado reported. The proposal will be analyzed by Mines and Energy Minister Dilma Rousseff, who "is interested in cleaning up a state-run utility like Celg," Perillo said.
