Irrigation investments to be undertaken in Bolivia's Tarija department
Bolivia's national fund for social and productive investment (FPS) plans to invest US$20mn in irrigation projects in the Tarija department, according to a government release.
As part of the Mi Riego program, which is intended to develop the country's cultivable lands, the department will initiate 16 previously approved projects from a total of 65 initiatives presented, of which the remaining 49 projects will continue to be evaluated and supplemented by regional authorities and will be implemented once meeting established standards set by the program.
The department has already taken part in Bolivia's Mi Agua program, which saw Tarija realize 114 potable water and irrigation works over three stages for a total investment of 224mn bolivianos (US$32.4mn).
