
Meetings of the Commitment Monitoring Committee between Las Bambas and Pumamarca community conclude

With the participation of the Ministry of Energy and Mines ( MINEM ) as facilitator in this space for dialogue, the meetings of the Monitoring Committee for compliance with commitments and agreements between the mining company MMG Las Bambas and the peasant community of Pumamarca concluded with significant progress in the district of Tambobamba, province of Cotabambas, Apurímac region.
It should be noted that, after the installation of the Monitoring Committee, on October 25, 2022, it was agreed to hold meetings on November 14, 15 and 16 to report in detail on the progress of the commitments and agreements assumed between both parties, in the Pumamarca community.
After the days of dialogue, the participants concluded that the Executive complied with socializing and establishing a schedule of 48 commitments assumed by MMG Las Bambas. Of this number, 13 are already in execution and 35 scheduled, which will be executed as of the first quarter of 2023.
More than 200 Pumamarca community members participated in these meetings, led by its board of directors, as well as representatives of the Secretariat for Social Management and Dialogue of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), MINEM and the company MMG Las Bambas.
It should be noted that, in this space for dialogue, the Technical Secretariat of the Monitoring Committee is in charge of the PCM; while the coordination falls on the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, and the Ombudsman's Office accompanies the process.
It is worth mentioning that follow-up meetings will be held every 4 months, and the next appointment will be in March 2023.
