Mexico launches environmental studies tender for Tulum national park

Mexico’s agrarian, territorial and urban development ministry (Sedatu) has launched an environmental studies tender for the 3.80bn-peso (US$192mn) El Jaguar national park project in Tulum, Quintana Roo state.

Bids will be received on January 3 and the contract will be awarded on January 17, according to procurement site Compranet.

The contract period will begin on January 30 and end on October 26.

Sedatu unveiled the project (pictured) at the end of January to preserve the region's flora and fauna, especially the endangered jaguar, in the face of “uncontrolled urbanization growth.”

The park is part of an investment of around 20bn pesos in the creation and maintenance of four national parks by 2024.
