Mexico launches gas pipeline call

Mexican energy authorities issued a call for bids to build and operate a natural gas pipeline in northwestern Sonora state.
The 48km Hermosillo branch will connect to the Naco-Hermosillo transport system and supply the Hermosillo combined-cycle plant, according to reference terms from state power company CFE.
The 16-inch pipeline will take an estimated 11 months to build and must deliver up to 100Mf3/d (2.83Mm3/d). Estimated investment is US$48mn and the winner will operate the branch for 21.5 years.
Naco-Hermosillo connects to the US gas pipeline network.
In its latest short-term energy outlook, the US Energy Information Administration said it expects natural gas exports via pipeline to Mexico to increase because of growing demand from Mexico's electric power sector coupled with flat natural gas production in Mexico.
Earlier this month, CFE launched bidding for the Topolobampo pipeline branch in Sinaloa state.
