Mexico launches PPP tender for US$57mn Jalisco wastewater expansion project

Mexico’s Jalisco state is seeking to award in October an estimated 1.16bn-peso (US$57mn) contract to expand the El Ahogado wastewater treatment plant in San José del Castillo municipality through a public-private partnership (PPP).
The project involves the design, construction and electromechanical equipping of the plant so it can have capacity to treat 1,000l/s. It also requires operating and maintaining the plant until 2042, according to tender information launched by the state’s water commission (CEA).
Bids will be received on September 14, a winner is due to be picked on October 5 and works will take approximately 18 months, according to the tender call.
Being a PPP, the project will involve a concession period and capex contribution from the winning company or consortium, but details were not specified.
