Mexico natgas output up 8.5% in November
Mexico's natural gas output rose 8.5% in November compared to the previous month to 4.43Bf3/d (billion cubic feet per day) largely due to two key fields, according to hydrocarbons regulator CNH.
In its latest production report, the commission said November gas output was also up from the average for 2022 to date of 4.08Bf3/d.
Output rose at Pemex's star new gas field off the coast of Tabasco, Quesqui, by 80Mf3/d in the period, while production at the Akal legacy field off the coast of Campeche, a part of the Cantarell asset, rose by 276Mf3/d.
Other significant gas fields include Ixachi, Maloob, Onel, Ku and Zaap, CNH said.
After stabilizing for three years following a steady production decline that started in 2010, Mexico is beginning to see natural gas output rise, according to the new figures.
In oil, total output, including condensates, was 1.86Mb/d in November, slightly higher than the previous month. But if condensates are excluded, crude output fell 46,000b/d compared to the same month 2021, the November data shows.
Oil output from privately operated contracts fell by 2,000b/d.
