Chilean state copper producer Codelco has awarded a contract to provide engineering, procurement and field support services for the overhaul of acid plants at its Chuquicamata mine to Dallas-based engineering firm Jacobs.
The contract includes modifications to existing facilities to support the operation of two new double contact/double absorption acid plants, Jacobs said in a statement.
The value of the contract was not disclosed. The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2018.
Codelco is the world's largest copper producer.
