New Fortress Energy eyeing new Caribbean, Mexico offtake

New Fortress Energy’s (NFE) 2022 commercial plans include organic growth from existing infrastructure that will require no additional capital, according to managing director Andrew Dete.
The executive made the comment during the New York-based company’s fourth-quarter results presentation.
“In Jamaica, the Jamalco refinery to which we provide steam from our Jamalco power plant today is switching from HFO [heavy fuel oil] to LNG [liquefied natural gas] and we hope to be the supplier,” Dete said.
He added that “in Puerto Rico, we intend to convert more oil and HFO-fired power plants to natural gas and in Mexico we hope to extend our contract with CFE.”
Meanwhile, NFE plans to complete the Barcarena and Santa Catarina LNG terminals in Brazil next quarter.
And in Nicaragua, the company’s 300MW Central Puerto Sandino gas to power project is complete and awaiting first gas.
