Nova Transportadora do Sudeste (NTS) announces the start of transport for two new shippers: Shell (inbound) and Gerdau (outbound). The agreements establish the transport of natural gas until December 28th.
The company already moves gas in its infrastructure for Petrobras and Galp. The commercial director of NTS, Helder Ferraz, points out that the operation marks the beginning of the movement of gas from NTS to a free consumer, for the first time.
“By offering already contracted capacity that is idle, the interruptible contract allows new shippers to enjoy the network more dynamically, without the need for a public call – a differential that speeds up the process”, he highlights.
With announced investments of R$ 12 billion in its strategic plan, NTS wants to increase the available transport capacity, expanding its customer base, in a coordinated expansion. “The natural gas market and the regions that need supply gain more competitiveness in their activities, with a greater supply of energy and transport infrastructure”, declares Helder Ferraz.
“For Gerdau, this new contract represents an evolution in the management of its portfolio and risks in the free contracting environment. In addition, the agreement underscores the company's pioneering spirit in an open and sustainable gas market in the long term,” says Flávia Souza, global director of supplies at Gerdau.
“This short-term operation is a milestone for Shell Energy Brasil, as it is the execution of our first natural gas transport contract for the Southeast region. It is even more special for having Gerdau at the other end, with whom we share the vision of seeking clean energy solutions – and in this strategy, natural gas is fundamental,” said Christian Iturri, CEO of Shell Energy Brasil.
