The producers of sugar cane in the department of Guairá received with great expectation the announcement of the President of the Republic, Mario Abdo Benítez, of the start of the investment plan for the modernization of the industrial plant of Petropar installed in the city of Mauricio José Troche. It will be with an initial investment of approximately 7.6 million dollars, with the accompaniment and coordination of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The program of modernization of the alcohol plant of Mauricio José Troche has a technical, economic, social and environmental focus.
"We are here to start a new phase, a new era for our alcohol plant and above all for our growers, their families and all the nearby communities." The signing of this agreement marks the starting point for the improvement work of the mill current and the construction of a new mill "meant the president of Petropar, Patricia Samudio.
APPROXIMATE INVESTMENT OF 7.6 MILLION DOLLARS
The modernization actions, which will be carried out through an investment of approximately US $ 7.6 million, are in line with the National Development Plan 2030, the National Energy Plan 2040, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). They will be carried out under the modality of "Implementation by the Government" with the support of UNDP, which will monitor the implementation, provide technical advice, provide administrative services for the hiring of personnel and companies, purchase equipment, goods and services, make requested payments , and prepare administrative and financial reports.
"With this investment, Mr. President, we are going to double the production of the plant, this plant that is the heart of this community that lives empowered by the work and effort of all these cañicultores that are here today, of their colleagues who are in the field and of all their families, "Samudio said.
AIM TO GENERATE JOBS
The project has a technical aspect of repairing the mill and, on the other hand, environmental and social aspects, besides generating a source of employment and goods for the community that lives around.
"We want this plant to be a source of employment but also of goods for the community that lives around," Linda Maguire, Resident Representative of UNDP, remarked on the occasion.
MORE THAN 32 THOUSAND FAMILIES
With this modernization, the Troche Alcohol Plant will guarantee decent work throughout the area, thus helping to reduce poverty, with the improvement of the income of the working population.
More than 32 thousand people will be benefited among cañicultores, officials and others involved in the alcohol production chain.
Through this pilot project, UNDP will support the improvement strategy of the industrial plant with the aim of responding promptly to its operational difficulties, which mainly affect some 1,800 sugarcane growers who provide raw material for the production of ethanol, as well as as to the final consumer.
The improvement strategy includes the repair of the current plant, the implementation of a new modern plant of greater scope, and the electrification of the original plant to achieve greater efficiency in the process. This will finally have two plants in operation, which may significantly increase production.
The work of the next 7 months will focus on solving the production stoppages - grinding line, the most critical point - with what can be produced continuously by at least three harvests; assist the growers registered in the provision of fertilizers to improve the agricultural and industrial performance of the 2019 harvest and generate, through specialized socio-environmental consultancies, the bases and technical, economic, social and environmental roadmap for the development plan of the plant.
