OPEC to finance Córdoba wastewater works

Argentina’streasury ministry signed a guarantee agreement with the OPECFund for International Development (OFID) to allow the government of Córdobaprovince to access a US$60mn loan from the fund for wastewater expansion works.

The US$109mn project entails the construction of 53.7km of pipelines, 17 pumping stations and four wastewater treatment plants, according to the fund’s website.

The works will benefit 141,000 residents of 11 municipalities, which currently lack wastewater treatment and collection systems, the ministry said in a release.

Since 2010, OFID has approved US$280mn in financing for Argentina. Some other water projects financed by the fund include the Gran Tulumaqueductand thesecond stage of the Desvío Arijón aqueduct.
