Pemex CEO, governors meet to tackle fuel theft
Carlos Treviño, CEO of Mexican NOC Pemex, met with the governors of Tlaxcala and Guanajuato states to step up collaboration with local authorities in efforts to reduce fuel theft.
The company stated in a press release that in the past months 12 service stations in Guanajuato have had their contracts cancelled because they were unable to prove the source of the gasoline they were selling. In Tlaxcala 52 clandestine fuel taps were discovered in the first two months of 2018.
According to Pemex, 145 pipeline taps were discovered in Guanajuato and 38 in Tlaxcala in March.

In related news, Pemex brought a leak due to clandestine tapping of the Satélite-Monclova-Sabinas pipeline under control in the municipality of Escobedo, Nuevo Leon state. The pipeline has a capacity of 18,000-21,600b/d of gasoline and diesel and serves principally the area of Mexico's third largest city, Monterrey.
