Peru power capacity demand up 5% year on year
Maximum capacity demand on Peru's national grid in January hit 5,564MW, a 5% increase from the year ago month, according to BNamericas research.
A record 5,575MW was set in December 2013 breaking the previous mark of 5,505MW recorded in November that year.
Hydro accounted for 48.7% of supply on January 1, 2014 when maximum capacity peaked in the month, data from grid operator Coes reveals. Natural gas followed representing 46.5%, renewables 2.25%, coal 2.16% and residual 0.4%.
Generation during maximum demand on January 30, 2013 also was led by hydro (54.2%) followed by natural gas (40.8%), coal (2.5%), renewables (2.05%) and diesel (0.4%).
