Peru watch: Thermo startup, transmission concession, call updates

Peru generator Termochilca inaugurated 220MW thermo Santo Domingo de los Olleros which cost US$127mn and uses Camisea block 88 natural gas.

A second phase to combined cycle with a steam turbine will take capacity to 300MW and a third stage would take capacity to 600MW. The complex is in Chilca some 60km south of Lima.


The government granted Consorcio Transmantaro a definitive concession for 500kV, 328km transmission project Trujillo-Chiclayo.

The line will run from La Libertad region to Lambayeque and help cover demand in the north of the country from mining operations. The project includes two substations and the expansion of another, and will take 30 months to complete.


Private investment promotion agency ProInversión released the sixth contract version, available in Spanish here, for transmission concession call Moyobamba-Iquitos, and set the maximum capacity price for the Nodo Energético del Sur call for two 500MW natural gas-fired plants at US$9,369/MW/month for Arequipa region and US$9,452/MW/month for Moquegua.
