Peru water utilities to invest over US$700mn in next 5 years

Eight water utilities in Peru will invest nearly 2.9bn soles (US$733mn) in 2022-26 to improve infrastructure under the plans of regulator Sunass.

The watchdog also set the water rates schemes for each utility during the period.

The investment amounts are:

Sedapal (Lima and Callao): 1.95bn soles
Sedapar (Arequipa): 412mn soles
Sedalib (La Libertad): 323mn soles
Seda Ayacucho: 53mn soles
EPS Grau (Piura): 126mn soles
Emusap (Amazonas): 13.6mn soles
EPS Moyobamba (San Martín): 21.6mn soles
Emsapa Yauli la Oroya (Junín): 1mn soles

The main objective of the investments is to close the coverage gap in water services, as well as expand and repair potable water and sewerage networks, Sunass said in a release.
