Peruvian insurance sector assets rise 11.7% from Jan to Sep

Peruvian insurers' total assets climbed 11.7% in the first three quarters of 2013 to 21.7bn soles (US$7.72bn), said Interseguro, according to local business newspaper Gestión.

Investment income from January to September was basically flat year-on-year at 1.20bn soles, while the profitability of insurer's assets was calculated at 7.14% for the 12-months through September, down from 7.96% in the prior 12-month period.

Peruvian insurers' total net profits were 506mn soles for the first nine months of the year, down slightly from the 518mn soles recorded in the same period last year.

Return on equity for the 12 months through September, meanwhile, rose to 15.2%, compared to 14.8% in the same period the year before.
