Retail group launches affinity credit card

Bnamericas
Costa Rican retail and financial conglomerate CSU has launched its Más X Más Fácil Visa branded credit card, local daily La Prensa Libre reported. Card users accumulate points for rewards at CSU's Más X Menos supermarket chain as well as other companies outside of the group. "The idea with this alliance is to look for better options for consumers and Más X Menos clients," CSU corporate communication chairmn Ricardo Coto was quoted as saying. CSU controls one of Costa Rica's largest supermarket chains through its Corporación de Supermercados Unidos division. The group's other divisions include financial services unit Corporación Servivalores and agroindustry unit Corporación de Compañías Agroindustriales. In other news, a consumer rights organization has asked Costa Rica's congress to pass legislation that would impose heavier penalties for the misuse of credit card data. The group also wants credit card regulations, which today are issued by the economy ministry, to be passed into law by congress.
