São Paulo to offer concessions for botanical garden, zoos
São Paulo governor João Doria (pictured) unveiled a plan to offer concessions for the state's botanical gardens and two zoos as part of efforts to attract private sector investors in infrastructure projects.
The concessions for the three attractions, all in São Paulo city, are expected to be launched in February 2020, according to a state government release.
"We want to offer better services for the population, with more attractive tourist sites, increasing the number of visits. The objective of the state is not to collect cash, it is to reduce expenses. Currently, the annual deficit generated by the administration of these parks is about 4mn reais [US$1.03mn]," said Doria
The governor is a strong advocate of privatizations, PPPs and concessions to reduce government spending.
