Spanish firm wins 70MW Uruguay wind farm contract

A trust backed by Uruguayan state utility UTE awarded Spanish firm Gamesa a turnkey contract to supply and build the 70MW Colonia Arias wind farm in Uruguay's Flores department.
Turbines are due for delivery by the end of the year, with commissioning of the wind farm scheduled for the second quarter of 2017, Gamesa said in a release.
The Arias deal follows a similar contract awarded to Gamesa by UTE to build the 70MW Valentines wind farm, scheduled to come online in the second half of this year.
The US$178mn Arias project will be partially financed by a US$42.9mn bond issuance that was four times oversubscribed, and by a loan of up to US$72mn from the Inter-American Development Bank.
