The digital transformation of healthcare advances
Mitic press release
This is an automated translation of the press release issued in Spanish
The Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MSPBS) reported that there are already 218 establishments that are connected and computerized, reducing the wait for patients, optimizing consultation time and improving the quality of care. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MITIC) has contributed to the computerization of 110 health institutions through the Digital Agenda.
These are Hospitals and Family Health Units connected to the Health Information System (HIS) located in the 18 health regions, making it possible to streamline and improve the quality of patient care processes, in addition to collecting data in real time, such as the single patient file and electronic prescriptions, which facilitates better management of the stock of medicines, in addition to providing accurate reports for decision-making at the managerial level.
The project for the Improvement of Efficiency in Health Information Management is an effort led by the MSPBS together with the Government of Taiwan and has the support of MITIC, KOICA and Itaipu.
MITIC, through the Digital Agenda Support Program, has connected and computerized 60 Regional Hospitals and 50 Family Health Units, with computer equipment in the areas of Emergencies, Clinics, Waiting Rooms and Pharmacy, as well as training for change management. It is estimated that 61% of the people reached are positively impacted.
The MSPBS works to increase the coverage of the system, recently reporting that it has reached 218 establishments throughout the country, and more than 14,674,934 consultations have been registered since the start of its implementation in 2017.
The implementation of the HIS System in health establishments at the country level allows the efficient organization of human resources, integrated data management and the gradual construction of the digital transformation that, without a doubt, will be the engine of change in the provision of quality care to the citizens.
