The Brasil Sul port (PBS) is expected to generate arond 3,000 jobs once is constructed. The idea is to create a hub in Mercosur and become one of the biggest multi-cargo ports in the country. The port will have specialized terminals for containers, grains, vehicles, general cargo, fertilizers, liquid bulk and gas, as well as complete logistics support structures, offshore docking, embarkation and disembarkation areas. The area contemplated for the port covers 146 hectares and is located on the eastern shore of Babitonga Bay, at the entrance to the access channel to the Port of São Francisco do Sul. Access to the area will be through the Duque de Caxias Highway , which connects to the north of BR-280, access road to the Port of São Francisco do Sul. The construction period is 72 months for the first phase, and then another 36 months for the expansion of the Container Terminal.
