Description

The 300km pipeline running from Mexico's Gulf and Pacific coast will cost US$1.4bn and link Pajaritos, in the port of Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, with Salina Cruz port in Oaxaca state. The US$200mn first phase is expected to supply 2.54Mm3/d of dry natural gas at maximum capacity to the Antonio Dovalí Jaime refinery in Salina Cruz, substituting the use of 4.38Mb/y of fuel oil for savings of US$173mn/y. As part of the project, Pemex invested 1bn pesos in the modernization of the Salina Cruz port installations, allowing it to restart crude exports to Asia and North and South America and eliminating the need to transport oil via the Panama Canal.
