Description

The Colombia-Panama interconnection project calls for the construction of an electric interconnection line between Colombia and Panama, which includes 340km of lines in Colombia and 260km in Panama. Panama's state transmission company Etesa and its Colombian counterpart ISA, which are coordinating the project, plan to split capex equally. The initiative seeks to promote the integration of regional power markets as part of the Mesoamerica project, formerly known as Plan Puebla-Panamá, which was designed to boost sustainable development in the region and which includes the Central American power interconnection system Siepac. The project is being developed by Interconexión Colombia Panamá, a JV between Colombia's state transmission company ISA and Panama's state transmission company Etesa.
