Description: The Jaguar Energy thermoelectric project developed by Jaguar Energy Guatemala will produce 300MW, generating 2,100GV/h per year. The plant will generate electric power based on a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) technology, which allows for fuel flexibility and efficiency. The power plant consists of two generators with a nominal capacity of 150MW each, a substation called S/E Jaguar containing two transformers, a double-circuit connecting line and two fields to connect the Jaguar-Aguacapa transmission line to the substation. In February 2014, Jaguar Energy Guatemala hired Ecuador's Santos CMI for the completion of electromechanical and instrumentation works for the entire plant, including the power block; boilers and substation; pre-commissioning and assistance for startup of a coal-fired thermoelectric power plant using two CFB boilers, two 150MW Harbin steam turbines, a fuel handling system and BOP. Jaguar Energy Guatemala is owned by international firm AEI, which in turn owns Puerto Quetzal.
