Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana S.A. (Grupo Sura) is a Colombian multinational holding company and is the majority shareholder of Suramericana, a company focused on insurance, tendencies and risks, and Sura Asset Management, which provides pensions, savings, and investments solutions. Its industrial investment portfolio includes minority interests in Grupo Nutresa, a conglomerate engaged in production of processed food, and Grupo Arcos, focused on investments in the infrastructure, cement, and energy sectors. Grupo Sura also has a majority non-controlling interest in Bancolombia. It serves a total of 44 million clients, spread across Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Uruguay. The group was originally founded in 1944 under the name Compañía Suramericana de Seguros Generales, and after several transformations it took the current name in 1997. Its headquarters are located in Medellín.
