Argentina ended December with 56.7mn mobile lines in service, an 8.1% increase compared with end-2009, national statistics bureau Indec reported.
Mobile telephony traffic reached 5.87bn calls in December, surging 23.8% compared with the same month one year before.
Local fixed-line traffic during the month reached 1.44bn calls, up 6.4% year-on-year, while domestic long distance increased 18.3% to 403mn calls.
Meanwhile, there were 29.4mn outgoing international long distance calls, an increase of 11.7%, for a total of 101mn minutes, up 14% compared with December 2009, Indec said.
At end-December, there were 9.59mn fixed lines in the country, up 1.2% from 12 months before. Public phones totaled 140,050, down 0.9%.
