Peru's private investment promotion agency, ProInversión, expects to launch nine telecoms projects this year, which will require an estimated investment of US$150mn, state news service Andina reported.
ProInversión telecoms projects director Jesús Guillén said that among the upcoming projects are the awarding of spectrum in the 10.5 GHz band in Lima and Callao, as well as the deployment of ICT infrastructure in Tacna.
"The most important projects are those related to the deployment of fiber, which will contribute to the consolidation of the country's backbone," Guillén said.
ProInversión will promote these projects outside Peru, added the executive, who foresees interested companies from Colombia, Central America and Asia.
Guillén also said the projects will benefit a total of 4mn Peruvians.
