The mayor of the town of Belén in Argentina's northwestern Catamarca province has said he supports all mining projects in the province, as there are high expectations for the development of the industry.
Following a meeting with the provincial mining secretary, mayor Daniel Ríos said there are five mining projects in Catamarca currently conducting exploration, with two more in a more advanced stage, local daily El Esquiú reported.
The mayor did not mention any of the projects, but noted that in the coming weeks, the provincial government is expected to announce the start of works for one of the two more advanced projects.
According to BNamericas' projects database, some of the projects located in Catamarca province are Neo Lithium's Tres Quebradas, Yamana Gold's Agua Rica, Golden Arrow's Antofalla, Ultra Lithium's La Borita, Lithium Energi's Laguna Caro, Cauldron Energy's Río Colorado, and YMAD's Mina Las Juntas and Chen Dan projects.
