Brazil's mining and energy ministry (MME) has approved the tender of a natural gas pipeline to link the Comperj refinery with key industrial hubs in Rio de Janeiro state.

The 11km project will connect Comperj to the Cabiúnas-Reduc III interconnection operated by Petrobras (NYSE: PBR), according to federal gazette Diário Oficial da União. MME has earmarked a January 2016 project startup.

Launched in 2010, the Cabiúnas-Reduc III gas pipeline is the largest in Latin America with a transport capacity of 40Mm3/d.
