Anam organizing national plastic recycling program

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Panama's environment authority Anam is working with other government authorities to organize a national recycling project for plastic containers.

The program first emerged more than eight months ago, when the government organized programs to recycle plastics in schools. Authorities hope that collecting plastic waste that clogs rivers and streams will help prevent floods, according to a presidential release.

The project is also being organized together with the education ministry, the national urban waste authority, the health ministry, and the national assembly.
