MEF authorizes US$55mn World Bank loan

Peru's economy and finance ministry (MEF) has authorized a US$54.5mn loan from the World Bank's International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BIRF).

The loan will be used to partially finance a project to improve potable water and sanitation services in several Lima districts, according to the supreme decree signed by President Alan García.

Lima water utility Sedapal is charged with administrating the loan, which will be used to improve Sedapal's management capacity.

The utility will also upgrade potable water and sewerage systems in Huachipa district and the storm drainage system in Comas and Chillón districts.
