Description:
Pedregal Power Company is a Panamanian utility which sells electricity and electrical generating capacity to local distribution companies under the terms of purchase power agreements, as well as through spot market sales within Panama and to other countries in Central America. It operates a 50MW merchant power plant. This project, which was financed on a non-recourse basis, was the first merchant project to be developed in Central America. The thermo plant has three MAN V48/60 engines and is located on 7.8ha near the town of Pacora, located about 15 miles east of Panama City. The project began construction in December 2001 and started operations in January 2003. The facility is a base load plant with an average dispatch factor of about 87%. Pedregal Power Company is based in Panama City, Panama. .
