Dersa: US$1.36bn project for east stretch of Rodoanel beltway under discussion

A 2.8bn-real (US$1.36bn) project to construct the east stretch of the Rodoanel beltway near São Paulo city is under negotiation, a spokesperson from state highway department Dersa told BNamericas. "Following environmental studies, a consortium formed by companies JGP and Prime Engenharia designed the project. The group is planning to present it to government authorities in the region. The first presentation will be on June 2," the spokesperson said. "There will be seven presentations in total," the spokesperson said, adding that if all goes well, the initiative could start by year-end. The stretch, 43km in all, will have a 6.8km segment that will run parallel to the south stretch of the Ferrovia railway throughout the municipalities of Mauá and Riberião Pires. The plan looks to extend the original width of the segment from 130m to 160m, thus allowing the railway to run along the highway. Works are expected to take 30 months to complete.
