Abengoa Latin America E&C backlog hits US$2.71bn

Abengoa's Latin America E&C backlog reached 2.13bn euros (US$2.71bn) as of end-September, according to the group's latest earnings presentation. The regional backlog represents 32% of total company backlog of 6.64bn euros. The US represented 23%, Europe 19% and the rest of the world 25%. Abengoa's main power projects under development and expected start of operations in the region include Brazilian transmission lines ATE VIII (108km, 4Q12), Manaus (586km, 1Q13), Linha Verde (987km, 3Q13) and Norte Brasil (2,375km, 3Q13). Other regional sector projects include Peruvian line ATS (900km, 4Q13); Chilean lines Quadra I (79km, 3Q13) and II (50km, 3Q13); a 300MW cogeneration plant for Mexico's state oil company Pemex (4Q12); and a 50MW wind project in Uruguay (4Q13). Latin America accounted for 45% of Abengoa's E&C revenue in the first nine months this year that totaled 2.78bn euros.
