Amerisur to ramp up Colombia-Ecuador pipeline capacity

Amerisur Resources will raise its capacity to export Colombian crude by 4,000b\d after signing a deal with Ecuador's state oil company Petroamazonas.

The agreement defines terms and conditions for the construction of a new re-pumping station along the Roda pipeline at Chritiza in northern Ecuador, Amerisur said in a statement on Monday.

The facility is expected to raise the operator's guaranteed carrying capacity to 9,000b/d from around 5,000b/d at present.

Some US$3.7mn will be invested in the project, doubling as a prepayment for initial transport tariffs, the company said.

The agreement to use the Roda pipeline will expire in 2030, with the option of an extension.

Amerisur CEO John Wardle said the new facility and pipeline agreement would allow the company to ramp up production from the Platanillo field and "neighboring blocks" in southern Colombia.

Amerisur exports Colombian crude to Ecuador via the OBA pipeline, which connects the Putumayo basin to Petroamazonas' Roda network.
