Argentina signs another Norte Grande highway contract

Argentina's Salta province signed a contract to pave a 104km stretch of provincial highway No. 13 between La Unión municipality and neighboring Jujuy province.

The contract signed earlier this week by Salta governor Juan Manuel Urtubey (pictured) and awarded to the José Chediack-Burgwardt-UCSA local consortium entails paving and construction of a highway juncture with provincial route No. 4. A 15km bike path is also part of the works.

The project, which will benefit 15,000 residents, is part of the Norte Grande III highway program financed by the IDB with investments of 650mn pesos (US$46mn).

Works are expected to last two years, generating 200 direct and 800 indirect jobs.
