Brazil’s Aliseo to invest US$95mn in offshore logistics base

Brazil’s Aliseo will invest 500mn reais (US$95mn) in an offshore logistics base in Rio de Janeiro state’s Açu port.
The project will be initially focused on storage, handling and loading operations of subsea flexible lines, which connect oil and gas wells to production platforms.
And, in the long term, the plan is to meet demands from offshore wind undertakings, which are expected to begin operations within the next decade.
Companies like TechnipFMC and NOV have flexible line bases in Açu, but they are proprietary units, not available for other suppliers.
“We’re not manufacturers, but logistics service providers. So we want to make an open base for the general market that everyone can use,” the director of Aliseo, Leandro Cariello, told BNamericas.
The Açu flexible loading base (Baçu) will be installed in an area of 160,000m2, have capacity to store over 500 reels of up to 400t and be equipped with four berths for support vessels.
The unit will support the loading, unloading, handling, control, transport and storage operations of reels, trams and subsea flexible accessories used by federal oil firm Petrobras in the pre-salt fields.
Aliseo comes from the 3T Flexíveis Consortium, formed in 2021 by Transdata, a company specialized in engineering and cargo handling, and Splenda Offshore, which is focused on logistics and holds the concession for the Angra dos Reis port terminal (TPAR), in Rio de Janeiro state.
According to Petrobras’ database, the contract with 3T Flexíveis is worth around 1.5bn reais.
“Other players with projects in the Campos basin will also need a support base to leave coils deposited, do maintenance, disposal and cleaning. Our target are the oil and EPC companies, some of which do not have their own base,” Cariello said.
