CNE participated in the Regional Energy Integration Commission

The National Energy Commission (CNE), represented by the Head of the Planning Subdepartment, Eduardo Esperguel, participated in the Andean Region Electrical Integration Meeting, held on October 27, which was organized by the Regional Energy Integration Commission ( CIER). ), a meeting where the 500 kV Peru-Ecuador Interconnection project was made public.

As part of the meeting, CIER prepared a document declaring good intentions, where the participants expressed their agreement to maintain an open collaboration, and to continue working on advancing towards a regional electrical interconnection, thus contributing to the energy development of the region.

This instance was attended by representatives of the energy sector from the countries of Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, and Chile. As well as the Inter-American Development Bank , where the participants presented their advances in transmission planning and discussed the advances in electrical integration that exist to date at the regional level.

The Regional Energy Integration Commission (CIER), in its integrating role, urges the governments of Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile and Bolivia to continue “advancing with the commitments established in the 2020-2030 Roadmap of the Electric Interconnection System Andina (SINEA), so that the countries carry out all the necessary efforts and technical studies”.

The IDB presented a summary of the studies carried out and that are in the folder for the purpose of supporting the materialization of possible interconnections between the different countries. Likewise, the status of different initiatives framed in the SINEA 2020-2030 roadmap and the next steps were reviewed.

For their part, the participants showed the progress in relation to the projects that directly concern them and gave their opinion regarding the possibility of materializing interconnections between the different countries, emphasizing the technical advantages and in terms of security.
