Codelco seeks renewable energy supplier

Chile’s state copper miner Codelco is looking for a renewable energy provider that supplies 2,500GWh/y from 2026 to 2040.

Interested national and international companies may express interest through February 10 via licitacionenergiacodelco@contratistas.codelco.cl. The bases are available here.

"We want to diversify our portfolio of renewable energy providers and encourage the development of this industry in favor of our sustainable development commitments, in line with global decarbonization efforts," CEO André Sougarret said in a statement.

Codelco’s sustainability plan aims at reducing its carbon footprint by 70% and use exclusively renewable energy by 2030.

Recently, Codelco signed an agreement with generator AES Andes to eliminate coal-based electric power and use only renewable energy at the Ministro Hales and Radomiro Tomic divisions.
